Alison Wright has been an English actress for over twenty years. She is most famous for her starring role as Martha Hanson on the FX historical spy drama The Americans, for which she received critical acclaim and an Primetime Emmy Award nomination in the year 2017. She also been a part of Ryan Murphy's limited television series Feud and Bette & Joan & Hollywood. Wright who was adopted by her parents was born Sunderland in the year 1976. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She studied in New York City at The Barrow Group and the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. She was a waitress while auditioning for parts. She was scuba diving, a great hobby of hers and suffered a cardiac event at sea which left her in the in a coma.
